On August 28, 2020 local time in the United States, the Office of the United States Trade Representative announced a list of products with extended exclusion periods for additional tariffs on US$300 billion. There were 214 items in the original list of products excluded from the US $300 billion tariff. This time, 87 products have been extended their validity (including 14 completely excluded products), accounting for about 40% of the original list, including 35 items of textile and clothing products; they have not been extended. There are 127 products with validity period, accounting for about 60% of the original list, including 16 tax numbers for textile and clothing products. The original exclusion was valid until September 1, 2020, Eastern Time. We are now notifying you of the decision to extend the exclusion period for some products from September 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020.
On August 20, 2019, the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) decided to impose a 10% tax on Chinese goods with an annual trade volume of approximately US$300 billion. Additional tariffs on products listed in Action List A take effect on September 1, 2019. On August 30, 2019, USTR decided to increase the surtax rate from 10% to 15%. On January 11, 2020, USTR decided to reduce the tax rate from 15% to 7.5%. List B has not yet been launched.
