According to a report by Kazakhstan Capital Network on July 20, Kazakhstan’s light industrial production increased by 8% year-on-year from January to June 2020. Among them, the textile industry increased by 8.4%; the leather industry increased by 6.6%, and the clothing industry increased by 2.1%. Due to the growth in cotton fiber production, production in all sub-sectors such as textiles, clothing, shoes and hats, and hosiery has maintained growth momentum.
From January to June 2020, the output value of Kazakhstan’s clothing industry reached 19 billion tenge for two consecutive years, and its proportion in the light industry dropped from 37.3% to 33.9%. From January to May 2020, nearly half of the output value of the clothing industry was concentrated in Almaty Oblast (3.4 billion tenge), Almaty City (2.3 billion tenge), and Karaganda Oblast (1.6 billion tenge). Kazakhstan’s domestic manufacturers are mainly concentrated in the defense orders and special clothing markets. Product sales can be guaranteed and inventory risks are relatively small. </p
