According to a report by Saigon Liberation Daily on September 4, Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade announced on September 3 that the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) will take effect on August 1 this year. It will bring huge business opportunities to Vietnamese exporters and help diversify export markets and commodities. In particular, agricultural products, aquatic products, wood products, textiles, ready-made clothing, leather shoes and electronic equipment and other Vietnam’s advantageous commodities will receive significant tariff reductions.
Under the EVFTA agreement, the export of goods produced in Vietnam will have an advantage over other competitors in the EU market. Since the above-mentioned agreement came into effect, the actual data issued by EUR.1 origin certification can show the company’s attention to this market and the importance of this market to Vietnam’s exports. One month after the agreement came into effect (August 1-31), the entrusting agency has issued more than 7,200 EUR.1 certificates of origin certification for Vietnamese goods sold to the EU, with exports to the 27 EU countries reaching US$277 million. The products that have been certified are mainly leather shoes, aquatic products, plastics and their products, coffee, textile clothing, handbags, luggage, fruits and vegetables, and bamboo and rattan woven products. Most of the import markets are EU countries with seaports, distribution centers and transit centers such as Belgium, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands. Among them, many batches of goods enjoy preferential customs clearance time when they arrive in the EU market. </p
