Sri Lanka’s “Daily News” reported on December 10 that the Sri Lanka Garment Industry Association believes that the new crown epidemic has not severely affected Sri Lanka’s clothing exports, and it is expected that exports will reach US$3.7 billion in 2021. In 2019 it was US$5.6 billion.
The garment industry is the largest contributor to Sri Lanka’s exports, accounting for 46.9% of Sri Lanka’s total exports in 2019. Currently, due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, 21 factories have been temporarily closed and nearly 20,000 people have lost their jobs. </p
