Milas Fasshion, a subsidiary of Sri Lanka Design Studio Group, has reached an agreement with the Sri Lanka Investment Board to set up a new clothing manufacturing factory in the northern Welioyas province. <\/p>\n
Local reports said that the factory is divided into two phases and is an investment plan costing US$3 million, including the most advanced machinery, automation and technology, which, once completed, will create 1,200 jobs. <\/p>\n
DesignStudioGroup has factories all over Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, supplying many clothing brands in the UK and Europe, including Asos, Primasdfssdfsrk, Next, RiverIslasdfssdfsnd, etc. <\/p>\n
Clothing is Sri Lanka’s largest export item. Since 1992, the clothing industry has been the largest source of foreign exchange earnings. <\/p>\n
In the first half of 2020, affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, Sri Lanka’s textile and clothing exports fell by nearly 30%, leading to an overall decline in exports. <\/p>\n
Sri Lanka has recently been hit by the second wave of the new crown epidemic. Clothing and textile exports may be slightly more than 4 billion US dollars by the end of 2020, compared with 5.3 billion US dollars in the previous year.
